5.2. Revenue model The business concept
As a government site UKonline does not have a business profit making plan, but it
stills needs to attract the interest of the audience as well as the interest of several
partners that would like to provide input. Their business concept then, is that
according to the British tradition companies would want to be associated with the
government website in order to gain in prestige. "The glory by association principle
applies in our case," said a member of uk online staff.
UK online is a community of partner organisations ranging from some of Britain s
biggest household names to small, local businesses and community organisations.
Big name brands such as those listed below have participated to make sure the
message gets out to all corners of the country that UK online is for everyone. And,
at the local level, community groups and small businesses are delivering training
and support where people need it.
