The rest of this chapter is organized as follows. Section 2 reviews related studies.

In Section 3, a brief overview of the communication mechanisms for cluster based Web

servers is provided. Section 4 outlines the proposed NIC caching scheme. Section 5

and Section 6 describe the workload characterization and the methodology adopted for

performance evaluation. Section 7 reports the experimental results. Finally, Section 8

concludes this chapter.
