Figure 5.6 shows that the temporal locality of the traces is very close to that
obtained from Equation (5.2) (except for the CSE trace). For CSE, the value from the
equation yields less cache hits than that from the trace, because the frequently accessed
data items tend to favor in the small size data items (as shown in Figure 5.7). Figure 5.7
presents the file sizes in the order of frequently accessed files from left to right. Even
though the average file size of the CSE is much bigger than those of the UCB and PSU
traces, many highly accessed files are about 10KBytes in size.
