HTTP Publish Tool
Publish using HTTP if your web hosting server has the FrontPage Server
Extensions installed. Otherwise, you must publish your web using FTP
publish tool.
On the menu bar, select File | Publish Web or Publish Site
Type the location of your website. (For example, http://www.mysite.com)
Click Options to expand the list of options. For FrontPage 2003, click
Optimize or Publishing tabs to see the list of options.
Click Publish or OK
To download your website from your web hosting server:
On the menu bar, select File > Open Web(FP2000, 2002) or File > Open
Site(FP2003). In the Folder name(FP2000), Web name(FP2002) or Site
Name(FP2003), enter your web address(eg. http://www.yourwebsite.com) and
click Open.
Go to File > Publish Web or Publish Site.
Type or select the location of your local web folder(eg. C:\My Web)
Click Options to expand the list of options. For FrontPage 2003, click
Optimize or Publishing tabs to see the list of options.
Click Publish or OK.
Note. Certain files should not be published again after you first publish
your web. For example, you create a web with a guestbook, and then publish
the web. Later, you update your web pages, if you publish all of your
files, including the file that records guestbook information, you will
save a blank guestbook over the existing one, losing all the information.
Other examples include pages with a hit counter; discussion webs; and
catalogs (if you are running Index Server).
To prevent a file from being published:
For FrontPage 2000 user: On the menu bar, select View | Reports | Publish
Status. Select one or more files, right-click them, click Properties on
the shortcut menu, and then click the Workgroup tab. Select the Exclude
this file when publishing the rest of the web check box.
For FrontPage 2002&2003 user: On the menu bar, select View | Reports |
Workflow | Publish Status. Select one or more files, right-click them,
click Don't Publish on the shortcut menu.
Tip: Use Ctrl + mouse click or Shift + mouse click to select multiple
files
Alternative Method:
Selective Publish 3.0 from Jimco Add-ins: This program allows you to
easily specify whether to publish individual files or folders. You can
simply right-click on a folder to set all files in that folder so that
they won't publish! Without Selective Publish, you have to set the publish
status for each file individually or make that folder a subweb.
