SeniorNet.Com conducted research in Jan.2003 about this very subject, and discovered:
(based on survey of 2,084 users of Age 50 85)
They were going online 49% of the time to look up health & financial related research,
80% of them taught themselves how to use the Internet,
37% of them took a class to learn how to use the Internet, and
46% of them have been using the net for over 5 years already.
Clearly, the seniors are online and using the net. That doesn't even account for all those seniors that
access the net through their friends, children, grandchildren and local libraries. The thing to remember is, if
there is a reason for the seniors to go to your web site, the above clearly indicates that they have the means
to get online and go there.
