What really happens when you go to a web site? We find that there are is a tremendous amount of
confusion about this.
Let's say Robert is sitting at home, using AOL for his Internet Service Provider (which is also known as his
ISP for short), and wants to visit IRS.com (to get some forms, for example). As you know, Robert turns on
his computer and dials his modem up (or uses his Cable modem, DSL or T1 line) to connect to an AOL
server.
However, the misconception is that once you have done this, AOL's server connects you to IRS.com, and
that's all there is to it.
