Chapter 2 Dreamweaver Interface Overview

If you have used other web editing tools, or even if this is your first jaunt into the land 

of web design, the Macromedia Dreamweaver MX interface will prove to be both 

helpful and user friendly.  While the program's interface is different from a tradi 

tional Microsoft program interface, and seemingly confusing or intimidating at first, it 

won't take long to sort it all out so that you can be on your way to being a web 

designer and/or editor.

To get you started, this chapter introduces you to:

opening the Macromedia Dreamweaver MX program

selecting a workspace (Windows only)

managing panel groups, panels and toolbars

using HTML help

After completing this chapter you should have familiarity with the layout of the 

Dreamweaver interface and how to manipulate the workspace to best fit your needs.  

You may not know what all of the tools are or how to use them at first, but don't 

worry, that will come in time.
