3.1 Setting up the Local Site
When starting a new website in Macromedia Dreamweaver MX, you'll need to estab
lish the Local site on your computer. Once this is set up, you can begin creating and
designing web pages, and adding all of the other things that will go into your site,
such as images, non html documents, and maybe even audio and video files. You can
worry about setting up the connection to the Remote site later, for now you should
just be concerned with the Local site.
1.
Choose Site > New Site from either menu bar or the Site panel.

Click the Advanced tab in the Site Definition dialog box.

Choose the Local Info category.
4.
Enter information for the following fields:

Click OK.
Site Name
The name of the local website as you would like to refer to
it in Dreamweaver MX. This is not the same as the name
of the local website folder. See Creating a Local Site
Folder on page 4.
Local Root Folder
The location of the local website folder. Click the folder
image next to the field to browse.
Refresh Local File List
Automatically updates the local file list when files are cop

ied into or renamed within the folder. It is a good idea to
leave this option selected.
Default Images Folder
Optional. If images outside of the website folder are
inserted onto a page, the image file will be copied to this
folder.
HTTP Address
Optional. Refer to the description in the dialog box.
Cache
Optional. Refer to the description in the dialog box.
