5.1 Text Formatting Options
When it comes to creating a document, be it a word processing document or a web
page, formatting text seems to be the most important need, aside from the content
itself. So we begin this chapter about formatting, with a section devoted to formatting
the text.
If you have experience formatting content in word processing, spreadsheet, or presen
tation programs, then you'll find that Dreamweaver MX's formatting options work
very similarly. Additionally, if you have used other programs, you'll know that there
is never just one way to do a particular action, and Dreamweaver MX isn't any differ
ent. This section gives a brief introduction to the three programatic locations to select
text formatting options, aside from typing the HTML yourself.
Formatting tools
The Properties panel is often the most convenient formatting tool because it combines
the most popular formatting options into a panel that is often located beneath the
design area. The image below also displays the Text menu and the shortcut/contex
tual menu that is available when you right click (Win) or Control click (Mac) any
where in the design area.
