7.2 Internal links
Different than an external link, an internal, or relative, link is a hyperlink which dis
plays a different page or location within the current website. And by default, clicking
an internal link will display the top of the linked page. However, sometimes you
might prefer to direct the browser to specific locations on the linked page, such as a
particular paragraph or image. To do this, you will need to first insert anchors and
then direct the internal links to the anchors specifically.
In addition, it is possible to create a link that opens a non html document such as a
Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file, or the ever popular Adobe .pdf file. Just
keep in mind, that in order for a browser to open such files, the user's computer must
have the corresponding application installed.
