well as expert support and proactive security monitoring.

6.7.5.1.2 High Availability 

(HA) Firewall Configuration 

HA Firewall Configuration is designed for businesses with relatively moderate 

bandwidth requirements but have high uptime and security requirements. This HA 

configuration is suited for situations where fail over capabilities are desired, yet price 

is of key concern and the bandwidth requirements are well within the capabilities of 

one firewall hardware unit.  

This solution improves fault tolerance but does not offer load balancing of any kind. 

This solution provides the Government with fail over firewall capabilities and full 

redundancy of the design (four hubs and dual handoffs). Failover is provided though 

firewall software running VRRP. Maximum throughput is limited to the maximum 

throughput of a single Nokia appliance.
