1.5 Overview of Dissertation
Chapter 1
Introduction:
This chapter presents the motivation for the dissertation, outlines the
objectives that the dissertation aims to achieve, the technical approach taken and finally a
description of the dissertation structure.
Chapter 2
Background Research:
This chapter reviews Quality of Service, Service Level Agreements,
Hypertext Transfer Protocol and a number of key technologies used in the dissertation.
Chapter 3
Requirements:
Reviews the requirements of the framework including what information
needs to be captured, and where the capture process should be implemented. The uses of the
captured information are then investigated and finally possible architectures for the
framework are examined.
Chapter 4
Design:
This chapter describes the design and architecture of the framework that enables the
specification and monitoring of SLAs for services delivered via HTTP. The design of the
client side component and information architecture is described.

Evaluation and Conclusion:
This chapter evaluates the work completed in the dissertation. It
then reviews if the objectives of the dissertation where met and identifies areas for further
research.
