Web Hosting Getting Started Guide 108
HTML, or Hypertext Markup Language, consists of sets of codes (called tags) that are used to
control the way a document is displayed by a web browser, such as Netscape
Navigator/Communicator or Microsoft Internet Explorer. A document that is formatted using
HTML tags such as the page you re viewing now is called an HTML document.
The best way to learn HTML is to use it. For help learning and practicing HTML, please review

Does Yahoo! provide HTML editors?
Yes, you can use Yahoo! HTML Editor to create and edit HTML files. The HTML Editor gives you
full control over the code of your pages. To open the HTML Editor, choose the corresponding
link in the Create & Update or Index tabs of your Web Hosting Control Panel, or click the
"HTML" link at the top of the File Manager.
Where can I find help with HTML?
As you become more experienced with HTML, you may want to create more files with your
own HTML editor and transfer them to Yahoo! via FTP or the Easy Upload utility. The
advantage of a local editor over the Yahoo! HTML Editor is that a good local editor will
automatically insert many common tags for you, saving you time.

What can I do with the Text Editor?
You can edit your files in our Text Editor just as you d edit them in any other editor. When
you open a new document in the Text Editor, you will be able to start working from a blank
page, much as you would when you create a new file in a word processing document.
You can also use the Text Editor to create new files. This editor offers limited functionality,
which makes it generally unsuitable for use by users new to HTML and other code. However,
