Web Hosting Getting Started Guide 118
Macromedia Dreamweaver is a site building and publishing tool appropriate for intermediate
to advanced users that allows you to create and edit web pages and applications using a
graphical interface and built in advanced design and coding features. Convenient for those
who want complete control over their HTML code, Dreamweaver is ideal for anyone who has
already built or plans to build a site with Flash, PHP, or other advanced programming
languages.
We suggest that you use the site building tool with which you re most comfortable. If you ve
used Dreamweaver before, or you re ready to take advantage of its advanced features, we ll
make it easy for you to use it with your Web Hosting plan.
Please note that Dreamweaver and other third party software must be purchased separately
from Yahoo! Web Hosting. To purchase your own copy of Dreamweaver, visit Yahoo!
Shopping at http://shopping.yahoo.com/.
Should I use Dreamweaver to build my web site?
We suggest that you use the site building tool with which you re most comfortable. If you ve

How can I publish my Yahoo! web site with Dreamweaver?
To get started, you ll need to use Dreamweaver define a local site. This means that you will
designate a directory (folder) on your computer as the local root (main) folder for your web
site files. As you build your site with Dreamweaver, you will store and edit your pages and
files here.
1.
In Dreamweaver MX s Site menu, choose Manage Sites. (If you re using another
version of Dreamweaver, these steps may vary slightly. Consult your software s help
files for assistance.)
2.
Choose either the Basic or Advanced tab (if you re a beginner, we recommend the
Basic path).
3.
If you chose Basic, you ll begin the Site Definition Wizard, which will guide you through
defining a local site. If you chose Advanced, you ll be able to set up your local folder as
well as remote and testing folders (see your software s help files for more
information).
Next you ll need to define a remote site. Here you ll associate the Yahoo! Web Hosting server
with the local folder you defined in the first step.
