6.7.10.3  Storage Area Network (SAN) on Demand 

SAN on Demand, a fibre channel technology solution, is designed for anyone seeking 

disk on demand turnkey storage services. SAN on Demand supplies all the back end 

infrastructure and expertise for a complete primary data storage solution.  

SAN on Demand uses a leading edge information management infrastructure as a 

storage POP within AT&T Internet Data Centers. Servers have dual port connectivity 

for redundancy and access data on demand within the S POP

.  

With connectivity to the S POP in place, AT&T Enterprise Hosting Services can 

quickly scale the storage solution to meet the Government's demands. The 

Government is able to purchase enterprise storage, in smaller increments than 

typically available directly from companies like EMC, with the infrastructure 

completely managed.  

The Government will receive a professional service assessment of the Government's 

data requirements including capacity planning, environmental survey and SLA 

requirements. Implementation of the storage solutions and ongoing management and 

monitoring is part of the service, which includes a 99.99 percent availability SLA.
