6.7.10.5  Backups on Demand 

Backups on Demand provides fully managed backup and restore service for file 

systems and databases, available on a subscription basis. Backups on Demand can be 

ordered with SAN on Demand. It addresses business concerns regarding low 

tolerance for downtime, need for short backup windows, complex data growth 

management and scarce IT staff resources. Backups on Demand has a 500 Backed up 

GB monthly minimum requirement. This equates to backing up approximately 100 

GB of primary data on a nightly incremental and weekly full basis over the course of 

a month.  

Backup Windows include standard weekly full backup with a 24 hour backup 

window, standard daily incremental backups with an 8 hour window, standard 

monthly system backup, weekly tape delivery to offsite facility for disaster recovery 

and complete tape media management and tracking. 

Restores include file, database and operating system restore initiations, 30 minute 

guarantee to initiate restore process and two free restore initiations per backup client 

per month.  

Retention Periods equal two week on site retention, one month off site retention 

period for full backup performed weekly, three month off site retention period for full 

backup performed monthly and one year off site retention period for full backup 

performed quarterly. 

Physical Components include tape media and all necessary hardware, network, 

software, and respective maintenance.
