Contract # GS00T01AHD0002
Proposal to Add Federal Telecommunications Service Long Distance (FTS LD)
completely manage and setup database solutions for the Government. Those
functions are the Government's responsibility but AT&T will offer assistance and
support on as needed basis.
All systems are designed for dedicated database use only. No other applications, such
as web server applications, can co exist on a database system unless the application is
specifically related to its functionality.
Determining the system requirements for a database installation necessitates a
thorough analysis of many factors. Some of the factors to consider are as follows:
Concurrent user connections
Size of data
Type of transactions (On line Transaction Processing (OLTP), Digital
Switching System (DSS) or Hybrid)
Number of transactions to be processed during peak hours
Frequency and size of batch jobs (often needs extra CPU time)
Required response time (fastest CPU will give the Government fastest
response).
6.7.11.2 Managed Database Clustering Services
A database cluster is a group of independent database servers managed as a single
system for higher availability, easier manageability, and greater scalability. High
Availability (HA) is achieved through the elimination or reduction of single points of
failure. The system can survive most hardware or software failures through the
utilization of redundant components. There is essentially an on line spare of each
Use or disclosure of data contained on this sheet is subject to the restriction on the title page of this proposal.
