NameServer settings
Hosting Controller enables you to set up and change your nameserver settings whenever required. You can choose
the type of DNS system you are using and it's home directory. You can also indicate that your DNS is on a
remote system, and give that system's location.
The home directory for your DNS system varies depending on the DNS server you are using. The following
locations are recommended:
MS DNS c:
winnt
system32
dns
Bind DNS c:
winnt
system32
dns
etc
Simple DNS Plus c:
program files
simple dns plus
To set your nameserver settings:
1. Click on the NameServer Settings link in the Preferences menu.
2. Enter your primary and secondary nameservers in the DNS Primary Host and DNS Secondary Host
fields.
Note: You do not need to fill in the any of the following fields if your DNS system is on a remote computer.
Simply check the DNS On Remote System tick box and click on the
button.
3. Enter your administrative contact's email address in the Administrative Contact field. This should be
in the form of admin.mydomain.com.
Example:
If your administrative email address was john@mydomain.com, enter john.mydomain.com
into the field.
4. Choose the type of DNS server you are using from the DNS Type drop down list.
5. Enter the directory of your DNS system in the Home Directory field.
6. Click on the DNS Settings Enabled tick box to enable these DNS settings.
7. Click on the DNS On Remote System tick box if your DNS server is located on a remote computer.
You do not need to fill in the previous fields if your DNS system is on a remote computer.
