CHAPTER 3. HOW DO I USE HOSTING CONTROLLER?
Remove this mask Removes all restrictions. Access can still be controlled via user permissions (refer to
page 82 for more information) or through anonymous browsing.
Browse Access Allows the IP address to browse the server or subweb the user has read access.
Browse and Author Access Allows the IP address to browse and change the server or subweb using
FrontPage the user has read and write access.
Browse, Author, and Administrate Access Allows the IP address to browse and change the server
or subweb using FrontPage, as well the ability to add and remove users the user has full access.
To edit IP address permissions:
1. Click on the IP Address Permissions link in the Front Page menu.
2. Choose the domain name be edited from the Virtual Host Name drop down list.
3. Specify the port number for the Extensions in the Port Number field. The default value is usually the
correct one.
4. Enter the name of the server or subweb folder be edited in the Web Name field.
5. Enter the required IP address in the IP Address field. You can use the asterisk character specify a wildcard
character. For example, 128.109.*.* allows access all IP addresses that start with 128.109.
6. Click on the required radio button set the level of access for this user, and click on the
button.

Setting an executable or non executable directory
Hosting Controller enables you to run scripts and applications within a virtual server or subweb by setting a
directory as executable. You can always turn off this functionality by setting a directory to non executable.
To set an executable or non executable directory:
1. Click on the Set Directory Executable or Set Directory Not Executable link in the Front Page
menu.
2. Choose the domain name be edited from the Virtual Host Name drop down list.
